What is Get Lit Lansing?

Get Lit Lansing is where Mid-Michigan’s tech community gathers to show what they’ve built. It runs as an interactive fair: presenters set up a table, and you walk the room, mingle, and talk directly with the people behind each project.

Prefer a mic to a table? There are optional 5–7 minute talks and lightning talk blocks through the evening — with time to mingle in between. Come for the demos, the talks, or both, and leave knowing more about what is happening in your own backyard.

Built-in socializing between blocks. Enterprise teams and solo makers, same conversation.

No pitch contest. No gatekeeping. If you built it and you are proud of it, bring it.

Why you should be there

You will be surprised by what is already being built in Lansing. Come see it up close, then stay and talk to the people who made it.

See what is actually happening

Hands-on demos from local companies, startups, labs, and personal projects — automotive, health, education, games, robotics, and whatever someone finished last week.

Sharing, not competing

This is not a pitch-off. Companies trade notes with startups. Experienced builders talk with people presenting for the first time.

A scene that is growing

MSU talent, a thickening startup mix, and established tech teams. Be in the room while it is still easy to know everyone.

Useful introductions

The format is built for talking. The person at the next table might be a collaborator, a hire, a mentor, or someone stuck on the same hard problem.

Your night to show it

Keeping a project in a private repo is safe. Setting it on a table in front of people who care is more useful — and more fun.

No barriers

Free to attend. Open to every skill level and background. Enthusiasm for making things is the only requirement.

How the evening runs

An open floor of demo tables, with short talks folded in and time to mingle around them. Block times and presenter names land once the lineup is set.

  1. Doors and setup

    Head up to the 7th floor. Presenters claim their tables and get set up — come early, grab a drink, and start wandering.

  2. The floor opens

    Room for up to 40 demo stations. Walk around, ask questions, and stay at a table as long as it holds you.

  3. Short talks

    A block of five-to-seven minute talks from presenters who want the room’s attention. Optional to give, optional to attend — the floor stays open.

  4. Time to mingle

    Deliberate breathing room. Find the person whose demo you have a question about.

  5. Lightning talks

    A second block, three to five minutes each, then closing remarks and a group photo.

  6. Goodnight

    We wrap around 9:00. Stay a few extra minutes if you can help stack chairs.

Want to present?

Take a table and show your project to whoever wanders up — no slides required. Screens are available if you need to show digital work. If you would rather have the mic, ask for a five-to-seven minute talk or a lightning slot instead. Companies, startups, students, and solo makers are all welcome — one form covers tables and talks.
